A24 Rage Bait?

I’ve had movies that have made me feel as though I’m being baited before, but this movie, felt as though it was made specifically to piss people off. Starting Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix, it takes you to a little town of Eddington during the pandemic. Ted(Pedro Pascal) and Joe(Joaquin Phoenix) butt heads as Ted is trying to run to be re-elected for mayor. However, the COVID policies he’s been trying to enforce doesn’t sit right with Joe, the town’s sheriff. The two end up running against each other, and that’s when all hell starts to break loose in town. The rage bait however starts closer to the election when Joe starts to voice his opinions about Ted’s policies and Ted’s son’s protests in town. Louise(Emma Stone), Joe’s wife, tries to keep him calm and stop him but the battle just gets messy. A24 usually does a great job with movies but I believe this one could’ve stayed in the drafts.
