Is the new Superman “woke?”

Even though I’m not the biggest DC fan, that’s more my man. I still believe that superhero movies should be somewhat dark but, at the same time something to hope for. When growing up, I remembered that superheroes were a beacon of hope for the “little guys”, meaning us, but this latest Superman movie didn’t give me much hope. It gave me mediocre, rushed, and sloppy Superman. He was constantly getting defeated and beaten down even though he had a slight advantage. Superman not being able to know how he was getting beat was beyond me. If you have an enemy, that should be the first person you look into. Now as for people claiming he was “woke”, I can see why. Focusing on random little things during a battle could appeal to certain groups of people but at the same time it wasn’t important for Superman to focus on in that moment. For example, saving a squirrel in the middle of a fight didn’t make any sense. Yes, only one squirrel. Then when captured, surrounded by thousands of other prisoners, he only saved ONE baby because the baby’s father was draining Superman’s powers and would only let him go if he saved the baby.
People also have an issue with director James Gunn. Personally he has created some good work but this was not his best work…
