Barbie: A Whole New World.

Since the release, the fabulous female produced feature, Barbie, shook the nation with not only girlies and gays, but it also started commotion from some headstrong misogynistic men as well. Expressing how the movie is promoting "sexism and a pro-patriarchy awakening." I, on the other hand, have a different take on the movie.

A movie for all ages, but mainly for women/young women as well as mothers, Barbie opens eyes for us on how we treat each other. Released July 21st, 2023, with lead actors Margo Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, and Will Feral. Along with one of my favorites in the acting world, Issa Rae! Playing the role of president Barbie! Shoutout to the director, Greta Gerwig, for having the Barbie president not only Black but an icon for our community. Another shoutout to Gerwig for also completely stepping out of the box for this movie. From the snippet trailer of the 2001 Space Odessy movie, to the full trailer, I didn't know what this movie was going to be about. From my point of view, I thought the movie would be about the Barbies taking over the world and kidnapping people to be brainwashed at Barbie-Land. Clearly I was wrong, but I'm glad that I was. Instead it was about how every woman is different, built different, look different, but they can be anything they want to be if they put their mind to it, and shouldn't have to constantly be pushed or convinced to fight with each other for the same situation or spot. As society would want them to be.

As for the music portion of the movie, I was pretty impressed. With tracks from POP girlies such as, Lizzo, Dua Lipa, CharileXCX, Billie Ellish and many more! Each of the songs not only complemented the scene that it was paired with but it also gave us a little be more insight to how the characters were feeling.

Overall, the movie in itself was a phenomenal hit that I hope everyone takes their mother to see, if you know you know! This movie continues to grow with not only 17 box office records being broken but, also the movie continues to make major profit. As of August 23rd, Barbie has made close to, if not now over $1.3 billion in the box office. Since the movie continues to progress and make more, their run has now been extended with a new multiple post-credit scene IMAX version. Starting the week of September 22nd, you'll be able to grab your fellow Barbies and Kens, bring out your best pink outfit and meet me and the girlies down at the movies to dance the night away.
