Big Mouth vs Human Resources.

Created by the same person, involving most of the same characters, but yet completely different storylines, these two shows, Netflix originals Big Mouth and Human Resources conquers the game of giving comedy to everyday life. But which is actually the best? Personally, I believe Human Resources should've gotten the same energy and hype that Big Mouth did.

Back on March 18th, 2022, creators Kelly Galuska, Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin premiered Human Resources on Netflix. From the same minds that brought you Big Mouth, we enter into the more complex world of life itself. Within Big Mouth however, which premiered back in September 2017, we meet multiple hormone monsters that follow and guide these middle school kids into become sex crazed middle school kids. Odd right? WRONG(Lola voice)! It's entertaining and hilarious to see these situations and scenarios that I've either been through or know someone who has at that age. Puberty in itself is different for everyone, but it is clear that the writers wanted to focus more on the sexual side of it before the emotional. How our bodies develop, how our voices change, how we may react to situations emotionally with anyone, etc., but make it funny instead of scary as it was for most of us. For example, personally, the biggest issue was that I was constantly freaking out because I was taller than most of the boys in my classes, that didn't end too well with the girls in my classes either. I was labeled as 'tree', 'giant', 'building blocker', and of course 'freak.' But I couldn't help it, my biological father was 6'3 and my grandfather is 6'2, it was bound to happen with me being the first born. As for Human Resources, you get new insight of what all ages go through in their life. From birth to death there are a lot that everyone goes through different issues that may cause difficulties for that person or the people that are around them. For example, in the show we meet this new born that has a 'Need Demon', short description, it's a demon that goes off on the other creatures for something their human needs. In this certain issue, the baby needed milk and the Need Demon was whispering to the baby "We're hungry!", "We need milk!", "We're cold!", and "Where's the tiddies?!". It made the situation even more hilarious especially if you have a baby or work with babies. We never know what they're thinking and as a parents, a new parent at that, it could get frustrating trying to keep them calm. Another example, Doug, a soon-to-be married, obsessed with the Phoenix Suns, has a 'Logic Rock' who has helped with making good decisions and creating a better life for their human. Pete the Logic Rock(voiced by Randall Park) has multiple humans throughout the series but Doug stood out more to me because I've met people just as he is. Obsessed over a team or a sports player that they don't really know personally and spending tons and tons of money on those said activities or individuals, knowing that those individuals and activities are profiting off of the money people give to the cause. I know a few that have been in Doug's shoe and continue to put money towards other individual's pockets. Human Resources helps with depicting how hectic it can get for someone's mental health and their bank account, it can be a lot for one individual. The show is impressive with bringing in real life situations and how one should process them in the healthiest way possible. Well, until we get to the end of the series, but, no spoilers.

Human Resources last for two seasons before Netflix decided to stop production due to viewer ratings. I believe that the more they were able to connect more with what adults go through in order to just make it through the day. It deserved more seasons in my opinion, especially with the mini stories within the series that were growing. If you haven't seen it yet I do recommend you check it out.

Season seven of Big Mouth is also out now on Netflix!
